About
I'm Christine Kim, a licensed clinical professional counselor based in Lombard, Illinois. I work with adults and couples who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the quiet weight of carrying everything alone for too long.
My approach is collaborative and grounded. I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is the foundation of meaningful change — not because I have all the answers, but because I believe you do. My role is to help you find them, in a space where you're allowed to be honest, uncertain, and entirely yourself.
I draw from evidence-based practices including CBT, EFT, and somatic-informed techniques, tailored to what actually fits your life and your nervous system. Whether you're seeking relief from symptoms or a deeper understanding of your patterns, we'll move at a pace that honors your capacity.

Services
Every person who sits in my office brings something unique. These are the forms our work can take.
One-on-one sessions for adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity questions, or the slow accumulation of life's unprocessed weight. A dedicated space to think, feel, and move forward.
For partners who want to break recurring patterns, rebuild trust, or communicate with more honesty and less defensiveness. Whether you're on the edge of a crisis or simply want to deepen your connection.
Families are systems — and when one piece shifts, everything feels it. I work with families to improve patterns of interaction, honor individual needs within the collective, and create space for repair and understanding.
Not sure therapy is right for you, or which modality fits? A free 15-minute phone consultation helps clarify your needs, answer questions, and determine if we're a good fit — no pressure, no obligation.
Approach
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model of healing. Different struggles call for different tools, and the best therapy is the kind that respects the whole person — mind, body, history, and context.
Identifying and reshaping the thought patterns that fuel anxiety, depression, and self-sabotage. Practical, structured, and effective.
Understanding the emotional cycles that drive relationship distress and building secure attachment patterns between partners.
Recognizing that trauma and stress live in the body as much as the mind. Using body awareness to support emotional regulation and release.
Exploring the deeper patterns from your history that show up in your present — not to dwell in the past, but to understand it so you can move forward.
Common Questions
If you're reading this and feeling even a flicker of curiosity or hesitation, that's a sign. Therapy isn't only for crises — it's for anyone who wants to understand themselves better, feel less stuck, or navigate a difficult season with more support. If you're unsure, we can explore that together in a free consultation.
The first session is mostly about listening. I'll ask about what brought you in, your history, and what you're hoping for from therapy. There's no performance expected — you don't need to have it all figured out. We'll also discuss logistics like scheduling, fees, and confidentiality so you know exactly what to expect going forward.
I work with several insurance providers and can provide superbill receipts for out-of-network reimbursement. Please reach out to discuss your specific plan — I'm happy to help you navigate the details before you commit to a session.
There's no universal timeline. Some people find relief in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer-term work. We'll check in regularly about your progress and adjust as needed. The goal is always to help you feel stronger and more self-sufficient, whether that takes a few months or longer.
Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of ethical practice and the therapeutic relationship. What you share in session stays in session, with the narrow legal exceptions that apply to all licensed therapists (such as imminent danger to self or others). We'll review this in detail during our first meeting.
Currently, I offer in-person sessions at my Lombard office. Virtual therapy can be a great option for some, but I find the in-person setting provides a deeper sense of presence and safety that I value highly. I may expand to telehealth in the future — please reach out to inquire.
